Dining in Phuket

If you happen to be a gastronome, look no further: dining in Phuket offers every palette intense flavors that are sure to please. Whether you want traditional Thai food or french cuisine there is something for everyone here.

Restaurants in Phuket tend to come in three price categories: Thai price (about 30 to 60 baht per meal), elevated Thai price (bumped up for tourists, between 80 and 400 baht), and expensive fine dining, such as Mom Tri’s. Price however does not determine how tasty your food is here. In fact, from our experiences the typical Thai food stalls and restaurants in the lower price range have the best food. Unless you are craving foreign food, enjoy how cheap and delicious the local cuisine is.

One of our favorite hang outs is the food court in Central Fesitval in Chalong. Whether we eat Indian, dim sum, or Thai food, we feed our family of three for less then 300 baht. It is very vegetarian friendly as well, and perfect if you plan on having a date night with your spouse, since the movie theater is right next to it.

Looking for great pub food? The gastropub Full Moon Brewery in Patong has superb beer and finger foods, especially the onion rings! We just recently sent a friend of ours there, and they too loved both the food and drinks. Although the ambiance is not nearly as comforting as the Green Man pub, it has better quality food.

One of our regular hang outs is Ellize 80 Bistro in Phuket town which serves reasonably priced Thai and farang food. They also serve high quality Thai ice cream in flavors like Samui Coconut, durian, and passion fruit. There coffee is also some of the best and cheapest in Phuket.

Sala Mexicali in Chalong has some incredible Mexican food, although a little pricey compared to Thai food. Coyote mexican in Patong has a large menu of both Margaritas and Mexican delights such as sopa de tortilla and enchiladas. They are around the same price as Sala Mexicali, maybe slightly less expensive.

The one thing Phuket does not have: good sushi. My wife and I are big sushi lovers and have yet to find a high quality sushi restaurant. All the ones in Central Festival are terrible. But if you are not a sushi fan, you aren’t missing anything. Dining in Phuket is a pleasure for both residents and visitors alike.

Anyone who has ever visited Thailand will surely know about the popularity of the island. This particular island attracts people from all over the world every single year. From shopping and beaches to spas and good food, Phuket really does spoil tourists. One visit to this island and you will know what indulgence is all about.

While we are talking about the island of Phuket, the fist thing that comes to mind is Patong Beach. This beach is undoubtedly the most frequently visited beach in Phuket, with throngs of people sunbathing and enjoying the sand.

Though Patong is not the most beautiful sight anymore, it still manages to attract a large amount of people each day. It is due to this huge crowd that the flawlessly clean beach of Patong with white sand has now turned into a mass of people and parasols.

The virgin beauty of Patong Beach has been replaced by the crowds that visit the place. However, if you are looking for scenic natural beauty unaffected by the hordes of tourists visiting Thailand, then you should visit Mai Khao and Nai Yang, amongst other beaches. They are a short distance away from Patong.

The one factor that makes Patong Beach a favorite among tourists despite its crowd and noise is the kind of facilities that you find here. There is no modern amenity that is unavailable in this beach. This is the reason why people who wish to explore Phuket choose this beach as their base.

In Patong, you never have to worry about clinching your wallet in order to find accommodation. This place has hotels and guesthouses that suit every possible budget. Whether you want a small place to call home that will not burn a hole in your pocket or you want to relax in the spa of a luxury resort, you will find it all on this beach.

The main restaurant is also found on the ground floor and seats around 150 people. 90 indoor seats are perfect for cool, wet evenings and there are 60 seats located outside that are ideal for anyone looking to enjoy the warm fresh air during their meal. A range of cuisines are served in this all day dining outlet from popular local to international to cater to people with a variety of tastes. Room service is available at Bistro and the all day dining restaurant shares an outdoor dining area with Thyme as well as an alternative semi-outdoor dining area that is decorated with lush, green plants and surrounded by glass walls.

This market is very easy to find, it’s located on the corner entrance area just before you enter Nai Yang beach. I like this Phuket market because it is very simple and you can find some really good buys all around.

Markets in Phuket are one of the best places to really find some delicious Phuket fruits, meats, vegetables and great seafood. One advantage of the market is you can really buy a few days worth of food and take it back to your home or resort room.

You can find one of the best views at the Pan Yaah Patong restaurant, this restaurant is located north on road 4233 heading toward Kamala Beach Phuket. One thing I like about the Pan Yaah is the location, away from main Patong and you get a great view of Patong bay from the northern end. If you are driving here the parking is pretty tight, at least with a car so keep this in mind if you go when the place is busy.

The food is good and the portions are not bad for the price you pay, depending upon the amount of customers they sometimes have part of the restaurant closed, but the main part is always open and has the best view. Below are some pictures and video of our view, we got here on a late Saturday afternoon so there was not that many customers present.

I would through this into one of my romantic Phuket dining locations category, great view of Patong beach, fantastic bay view and service that is one of the best in Phuket. This is just a simple review of one of our favorite places to dine in Phuket, I try to write and get as much media as possible during my travels around this beautiful tropical island.
